When shall we three meet again?
Who can manage/wants to coming to my house next Friday (the 7th) after school or in the evening to watch the Wyrd Sisters animated thingy? I'm busy today and tomorrow, so I really can't think of another day that would work... Saturday, maybe, but that's cutting it kind of close. I leave on the ninth. Let me know.
I'm glad you want to be close to me, but eating my sweater is not the way to happiness.

Here's to us! To the toast of all the city! What a pity that the Phantom can't be here!
Guys! My Discworld collection is essentially complete! I got A Hat Full of Sky for Christmas, and bought The Last Hero yesterday! That means that only the short stories are missing from my library of the cannon, and I'll probably order those online or get somebody else to do it for Easter or something. The short story collection is officially impossible to find at any bookstore (although, incidentally, the Walden Books at Castleton mall has a very good Discworld section; the Borders at somwhere or other has it as one of their featured series, but I don't think they even have the whole thing-- but in any case, the ones they have are in order now, because I put them in order while I was there). But anyway-- dude! I have them ALL! Mwahahahahaha! Oh! AND I got the animated Wyrd Sisters movie, which I want people to come and watch. AND I got the Art of Discworld book, which is awesome and pretty. AND I got ROTK extended, and I watched it last night. Yay for hobbity hoyay!
And I got the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, and am in the process of learning the words and having them stuck in my head all the time. The Angel of Music sings songs in my head. I saw the movie Christmas Day, and I thought it was simply awesome. The visuals were amazing, and singing was excellent, and the acting was pretty damn good. An interesting side note is that the people who did it were obviously thinking, "Okay, guys are going to take their girlfriends to see this, and they might get bored with the singing. So here are a lot of nice cleavage shots, and Christine's dressing gown is very revealing so that you can see one of her legs all the time." Raoul had funny sideburns. They changed a couple of plot points to give the movie more depth, like having Christine come live at the Opera House when she was seven as opposed to a teenager, and we see Madame Giry's exact connection to the Phantom (only possibly not all of it-- I have a theory...). They also hit you over the head rather hard with the "Christine Thinks the Angel Might Be Her Dead Father" stick, which is a good thing, as the play doesn't explain that very well. Minnie Driver doesn't do her own signing (though she does sing the song in the credits) but she made a wonderful diva ("For ze past tree years, zese tings do 'appen! And do you stop-a zese tings from 'appening? No! And you! You are az bad az eem! Until you stop-a zese tings from 'appening, ZIS TING does not 'appen!").
Anyway, Jonah was in the paper today! It was a good article. Hooray for the MEOW! That's really what I posted to say, but I got sidetracked. I read the article online, and I was like, "I know him! He's on my blog!"

Christmas is all around me
Anyway, I hope the shindig at Thomas's house last night rocked, and I'm sorry I missed it. I did have fun at Michael's and, subsequently, at Comstocks' Wednesday. I'll see you all later, and until then, a holiday message from Mr. Bill Door: HO. HO. HO.

Snow makes me happy. Especially tromping through it with Amy. My dragon also makes me happy. And carolling with Chamber Singers. And Levi being home. And my story. I'm happy right now. Yay for happiness.
What does not make me happy is Sci-Fi channel's slaughtering of the Earthsea series. It was decent but books of that caliber deserve far better.
Still, one botched mini-series does little to detract from my overall happiness. Yay me!

Redundant Tomato XXXVII
In other cat-related news, the MEOW came out. I was startled to realize that I had most of it memorized and shocked to find three typos on page 23. I was pleased, however, to find no typos outside of page 23. The lesson to be learned here is: don't forget to edit a page. (Particularly if said page is page 23)
So the last week for me has been an insane choir overload. IYC, Chamber, and CHurch choir are a doozy during the CHristmas season, and when you throw in Interdisc... Oy.
Let's see, what else is there...?
Oooh! I made it into Mark's play! I'm Leandre, the young lover, and I have like two scenes and some odd lines. No internal monologues or anything, but not a bad part. I'm also probably going up for Grease, but it's weird 'cause so many people are trying out who've never done musicals before. And knowing Means, they'll all get in and the veterans will get screwed over. But hey, at least I've got Leandre.
Also, NaNoWriMo was an abject failure, and also gave me an excuse to halt Corndog, which I still haven't gotten back to. Truth be told, Corndog bores me. I just want to end it, but I feel an obligation to give it some closure. How many people would object if I shelved it for a while and worked on something else??? (THat's not rhetorical, go ahead and respond in the comments)
I'd Also like the opportunity here to say to Evie: If you don't have a present from me by Christmas, it's because either the mailman or I have been very slow. Don't despair, it will be there eventually.
I'Ve noticed I Have this annoying habit of holding down the shift key just a tad too long and capitalizing the second letters of WOrds. So if you see that, now you know why.
I'm gonna end this tired bit of rambling with this impromptu poem.
I said that I would end,
With an Impromptu poem,
I didn't know how I'd fend,
But I figured I would show 'em,
That I've got mad poetry skillz,
As mad as mad can be,
And noone from here to Brazil,
Is as awesome a poet as me!

Speaking of dishonor, I played cello with some orchestra friends for a cantata on sunday night. I am so very glad that the choir was loud and knew what they were singing, because we hardly knew what we were playing. On the bright side, we opened with a sort of ensemble thing that was just us, and we did pretty good for practically sight reading it. However, the next couple weeks after break shall be my cello's last hurrah. I'm done. No Italy, no more cello. Italy was the only reason I stayed in, and we can't afford that reason. Being poor sucks. So, I'm tossing out the cello (metaphorically, of course, it's too expensive to literally toss it) and joining Central Sound, depending on the cost of the switch.

Anyway, I'm glad school's over! Woot, w00t, and major W0Ot!!! I hate school! Hmm...I forgot what I was going to say. Oh yes! I WANT LIAM AIKEN'S BODY!!! lol and it's not illegal because we're both minors. :D Sorry. I'm done. ummm...Yes, "Series of Unfortunate Events" is a great movie, and this is from a girl who read all of the books twice. It's just fantastic; really good for people who just want to enjoy a slightly depressing movie and even better for people who enjoy looking for parallelism and symbolism in everything. Woot! There'd so totally better be a sequel. No stinking joke. And, fyi, Liam Aiken plays Klaus Baudelaire in the movie. Duh. Goodbye! CSI TIME!

Last night was okay, I went to see Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events. Ironically, I was subjected to a serious of unfortunate events before seeing it. I was going with a few orchestra folks and two of Kathy's friends from church, mostly because Christin had free tickets.
Unfortunate event #1: One of the people backed out, and I had to give someone a ride, despite me not knowing where she lived.
Unfortunate event #2: I got lost due to Mapquest's shortcomings as a direction giver, causing me to waste 45 minutes searching for a street that wasn't there.
Unfortunate event #3: Due to my frustration, I got on the wrong road to get back to 465, and ended up somewhere downtown. Thus, wasted yet another 45 minutes trying to get back home.
Little ray of hope: Kathy gave me some gas money and showed me how to get to Kim's house so we could pick her up. We ended up going to see the 10:15 show instead of the 7:45 one.
Unfortunate event #4: Christin also backed out for some reason, so tickets were no longer free.
Light at the end of the tunnel: The movie was awesome. I'm not going to say anything else about it, just to bug you all.
Total cost of seeing this movie with a couple of friends and one jerk who decided to ditch us: 90 minutes of pointless driving, $10 worth of gas, and $8 for the ticket.
Seeing spooky symbolism and parrallelism: Priceless

Ba-who Boris, Da-who Doris, welcome Christmas, come this way
Anyway, I'm loving college so far. I really like the whole format they have here [ha, I was just reading back over this and realized I said "here" as though I'm still there. But I'm not. I can't escape! Ahhh!] at Hanover as opposed to high school... I think the difference lies in the fact that there is no busy work; all the homework is reading and papers. And that's it. And I'm good at that. So, no problem, aside from the fact that it's time-consuming. And I did spend three nights in a row last week writing papers, which was hell, I freely admit. A lot of people are really struggling, though. I don't think they were prepared like I was as far as college-level classes go. I credit Lyceum and AP Lit with my success at Hanover, and almost nothing else I learned at LC. Except Latin, maybe. And if I finally get to take German next year, then German. My Star Wars and Arthurian knowledge have helped me considerably, and will do so even more next semester in Quest Archetype II (sighs dreamily).
Anyway, Marten and Thomas rocked the auditorium last night at the Holiday Concert. Good job, guys!
Shout-out to Thomas for talking with me all through those three hellish days of paper-writing. You rock.

Good news/bad news: Good news: I got cast in Mark's play. Bad news: I'm in one scene and I have eight lines, none over five words long. Good news: I'm not playing an old man. Ok, now it is time for me to post, as no one has done that in a while. I think we as a society need to make the distinction between an appreciation of beauty and romantic attraction. If you look at a flower or a painting and say it is pretty, that does not automatically mean you want to have sex with it. Nor does it automatically mean you're saying that it is preferable to a flower in your own garden or a painting you already possess. You are merely recognizing it's beauty. The same should be true of people. I should be able to tell a girl that she's looking particularly attractive today without either of our significant others taking offense at it. Also, I should be able to say that a boy is attractive without people assuming I'm gay. Some guys are just pretty to look at, darnit. It doesn't mean I'm attracted to them.
Ok, so that was just my little tirade. It may seem silly, but I think if people felt more free to complement each other, a lot fewer people would have self-esteem problems.
Don't blame me, I voted for Valorum.

It was great seeing those of you I saw today, and I'd like to see those I haven't before break's over, if at all possible.

Title-scheme-less
For those of you totally out of the loop, I've suffered an emotional breakdown over the past week. I didn't want to bother with it here, but I posted about eight times on my blog, and it made me a little upset that only two people read or commented. I know you guys don't care about all my inner thought's, but I make it a point to check all your blogs (at least the ones I know about) at least once a week. Having a whole row of depressed, bordering on suicidal in places, messages and no comments, makes one feel like he has kno friends, which tends to worsen depression. Plus, when I'm not depressed, I sometimes have funny stories on there. I guess what I'm saying is, if you have a blog and no one reads it, you might as well just keep a journal on paper. I'd really appreciate it if you guys at least checked my blog from time to time, and when you do, comment. That's what it's there for.
On a slightly lighter note, I need to come up with a title scheme that doesn't take too much thought. Any ideas?
We shouldn't think of ourselves as separated Democrats and Republicans, but as ultra, super-duper, mega-morphin' ... Republicrats! (Insert "Thundercats" theme song.)

Fight Choir with Choir
In Interdisc the other day, we were talking about racism, and how there were very few black people in the higher classes. I left feeling pretty sad, thinking about how alive and well racism is. Then I went to choir, and I realized that there is one place at least where it's dead. New Dimension has the same racial breakdown as LN- 2/3 white, 1/3 black, minus neglagible percentage of Asian and Hispanics. There's no racism there. There is one mixed race couple and three mixed race pairs of very close best friends. They only judge you based on how hard you work. I felt a lot better after that. 'Cause if a group that diverse can get over racism completely, there's hope for the world.
We shouldn't think of ourselves as separated Democrats and Republicans, but as ultra, super-duper, mega-morphin' ... Republicrats! (Insert "Thundercats" theme song.)

Yay for Erin. She is truly awe inspiring.
On the Razzle was really good. I'm not gonna say much about it, but I enjoyed it. And Congrats to Thomas for the Grand Nationals thing.
I'm not going to write a novel. I just don't have time. Sorry to disappoint anyone.

Eli's Coming - he's probably just stuck in traffic.
A year went past. The days followed one another patiently. Right back at the beginning of the multiverse they had tried all passing at the same time..
Today is my first Blogiversary. One year ago today I made my first post on Compendium of Stupidity. At the time I was still doing Once in a Lifetime, I hadn't met Michael, and I was really, really tired. Today Marten just finished On the Razzle, I have met Michael, and I'm really, really tired. In between a lot of things have happened, and we are now going to have an Erin Retrospective.
The play and movie reviews:
(Design for Murder)
Design for Murder kicks ass. It has murder and intrigue and people oozing sex and me in a wig.
(Thespian Regionals)
And the name of one of the chorus girls in Little Shop was Bingbing Chu. I am not making this up.
(Cold Mountain)
Renee Zellwegger kicked ass and earned all the awards she has won and/or will win on Sunday, Nicole Kidman was pretty and sad, Jude Law was sad and died, and Natalie Portman made a stirring appearance as the widowed and lonely mother of the world's largest baby. (It looked about half the size she is, probably partly 'cause she's so small.) She cried and then was almost raped and then shot a guy. Hooray. Jude Law is cute but not so much so with a beard. That's about all I have to say about that.
(Jersey Girl)
It's funny because Ben Affleck tries to act. Like, with human emotions.
(Moulin Rouge)
I love the Elephant Love Medley. I love it whenever Ewan McGregor belts out pretty words.
(Attack of the Clones)
AOTC is a rollicking impressive CGI adventure into the Star Wars universe, critically acclaimed as "better than The Phantom Menace." It chronicles the beginning of the Clone Wars, which were made famous in A New Hope with the line, "You fought in the Clone Wars?" (Indeed he did, Luke. Indeed he did.)
(Love Actually)
Love Actually is, indeed, The Ultimate Romantic Comedy. I can't recap all the plots, because look how long it took me to do just one. Basically, there's a wedding, there's an affair, people fall in love, Christmas is all around me, and on Christmas you tell the truth, and American girls are easy, and Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson, and Hugh Grant dancing around because he's Prime Minister and Billy Bob Thornton is President, and Keira Knightley, and female half nudity, and Portugese, and Liam Neeson and the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport, and love actually is all around.
The Life Events:
So, finally, he held his side of the knob in place while mom replaced her end and he unlocked the door. Then he went to hide behind the shower curtain because he was still naked. Bad move. And he still wouldn't reveal the location of the stolen things. Worse move. We took his pajamas.

That's right, after two years of alternately trying really hard and procrastinating, I am finally licensed to drive. Get off the roads, everyone. It is no longer safe. Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!!
The Randomness:
Ooh... penguin!
I DO want to be Queen of the Penguins!
Dopa mee gusha, peedunkel?
I'm glad there are no sweeps in real life. I wouldn't be able to stand November, February, and May.
Jonah's blank entry leads me to suspect that he may be the Phantom Menace. I have a bad feeling about this...
I had something relevant to say, but I forget what it was.
Oh, yes, give me my books back.
And let me be the first person to annoy Michael and say...
"Chicago Chicago Chicago Chicago Chicago TORONTO!"
Well, I am all caught up reading a little piece of narrative genius entitled "The New Toaster" and have duly commented. Everyone cheer, do the hokey pokey, and turn yourselves around.
It all began with a game. The best game ever. The "Oh, Snap!" Game.
Obi-Wan and Anakin then engaged one another in a duel, while George looked on and laughed maniacally. Just when it seemed that this might go on forever, the paternity test results came back. They revealed that the father was, indeed, Anakin Skywalker. He enthusiastically embraced his wife, while over his shoulder, she and George exchanged a wink. Everything was going as planned...
I won't argue that the hall sweeps are dumb, but they probably wont last. And even if they do, well-- I won't be there. Aha! Ahahahahahaha!
Irrelevant spoiler of the day: I am running out of irrelevant spoilers. I must consider changing their format. For today, how about this... Episode III will probably be nothing like the episode of Gilmore Girls I have to miss tonight because of the stupid One Acts. I would say that's pretty accurate.
The explanation is: Something quantum happened.
I love being a big huge dork.
And there, ladies and gentlemen, you have it. One whole year of Erin. :) It's been priceless, hasn't it?

Pointless Eggplant XII
Now to get around to the purpose of my post: The Journalism conference.
I had the pleasure over the last two days of attending a journalism conference at Franklin college, and I thought it interesting enough to report here.
Day 1 went from 4:45 to 10:00 and was intensely pointless. It was a costume day (due to the proximity of halloween) and I was dressed in my purple shirt, vest, and bowtie. There were really three events: a keynote speech, a student dance, and individual newspaper critiques. The latter two were simultaneous. Well, the keynote speech was horrible. It was over journalism horror stories, what not to do. However, the speaker herself was not very good and the prolems were so similar they got old after a while. By the end at least one half of the journalists in the audience were either playing games on their cell phones or talking to each other.
Well, when the long, long keynote was over, some of our party wanted to go to the dance, but we were scheduled for a critique, so we went to get that. Well, all the staffs getting critiqued were to sit around tables, and a critiquer would sit down with us. This worked perfectly for every table but ours. No critiquer came to our table. A crazy girl, however, did. Introducing herself first as editor and some time later as Carla, this girl handed us copies of her paper and started reading the copies we had of ours and making comments. Everytime she came on an idea of ours she liked she explained how they'd already done it. Every time we came upon something in her paper we liked she took credit, and every time we found something we disliked, she said she "let the page designers do it." She said this in the same way one might say "I let my dog do it." She also asked whether I wore the bowtie all the time. I replied no, only special occasions, and in the course of the conversation she said I was cute. I don't know if she meant because of the getup or in spite of it, but that's not really important.
Anyway, the crazy girl departed and the critiquer continued to not show up, until we finally went home disgusted. On the way home we stopped in a gas station where the two 20-something female cashiers said my vest was sexy.
Day 2 was longer, from 7am-2:45pm (these include travel time, btw) but it included actual sessions, classes if you will. It went considerably better, with an actually good keynote speaker, who talked about journalism in the real world and how to succeed in it. Then we went on to the classes, which were very helpful and informative. One of them, in fact, spurred a minor epiphany for me with regards to design in the MEOW.
At lunch, I was introduced to the game "He said, She said" This is one of those games, for those of you unfamiliar, that girls play with paper and pencils. Basically people take turns writing down a male's name, a female's name, an action, a place, a quote from each, and an ending. But no one sees what any of the other people write, so you end up with what is essentially a hilarious, potentially very dirty, random story generator. Any way, we had lots of fun with this by the end.
The two downsides of day 2 were that (A) Harvey and Hoosier Star awards were given out and we got the shaft most royally and (B) No one said I was sexy. This is something I should elaborate on. Same environment. 2 hours more. With Vest, shirt, and bowtie = Three compliments from strangers. Without vest, shirt, and bowtie = Zero such compliments. Let me tell that to the next person who questions my fashion!
Anyway, I've kind of written a lot at this point, I hope that it proved interesting. If not, you'll live.

Fetch a real nice box, Stupidetta. This here is the cat that will save Earth.
I was at the comstocks house today, and we were complaining about how the debates are just repetitive and nothing ever actually gets done in the way of convincing anyone one way or the other. This is when the idea of the presidential election reality show was concieved. "The Whitehouse" would be a combination of survivor, the apprentice, and the casino. Each candidate would run a country, perhaps simulated, perhaps real. (maye like Iraq, or Haiti or something) and they would either be disqualified or voted off either by eachother, some sort of judge like Jim lehrer or the American people. The final candidate would be chosen from the remaining two through public election after an "open-ended trial" event, in which the determined winner is objective. What say you?

Everything you know is wrong
You know how some movies write a plot first, and then add special effects? Not this one. The plot seemed sort of like a video game plot - filler between cool-but impossible action scenes. And incredibly campy dialogue.
The best part was the flying british aircraft carriers. Or the aquatic plane chase through 1940's New York. The bad guy planes had flapping wings.
It was a good movie. Then I came home and saw something that made me happy. I'm in a good mood.

Another Castle
Why does it always seem,
When I’ve gotten through a world,
When I should be in a dream,
When I should be with my girl,
When I should have my reward,
For my pain and for my hassle,
I am greeted with the words,
“I’m sorry Mario, but your princess is in
Another Castle.”
Another Castle, far away.
Across the deserts, and oceans, and levels I must play!
Another Castle I must seek,
And as I waist my time, my princess’s life grows bleak.
Another Castle.
Why does it always go,
As we’re hunting for the princess,
Credit goes to Mario,
No matter whose the win is?
When I should have the reward,
For the pain and all the hassle,
He can’t even say the word,
“Luigi, your princess is in
Another Castle.
Another Castle, far and dim.
One where the princess will love me instead of him
Another Castle must be there,
One where someone sees my feelings, someone cares.
Another Castle.
The blocks that we break, and the koopas we slay,
It always means nothing; it all fades away,
When we beat the last dungeon, when we beat the last boss,
Will we be with the princess, or still wandering lost?
And will all of our journeys be worth the cost?
Or is our princess in, another castle?
Another castle, far away
Another castle far and dim
Another Bowser I must slay
And she has only eyes for him!
Another castle I must seek
Another castle must be there
As the princess’s life grows bleak
Where the princess just might care
Another Castle!
Another Castle!
Another Castle.
There's actually a tune written out, but there's no real way to post that. Oh well. Hopefully we can develop this into a full length musical.

Kerry continuously brought up the fact that Bush was wrong to go to war. Whether he was or not, this is a moot point. We are at war, what are you going to do about it? Both candidates predictably circumvented this question, Kerry more so than Bush. Bush repeatedly called Kerry inconsistant. Kerry consistantly responded with a wordy "No I'm not!" If Kerry had just concentrated a few of Bush's mistakes aside from the moot fact that he went to war at all, he probably would have sounded better
Bush's mistakes were smaller, but obviously more noticable. It is worth mentioning that the only thing that most students bashing Bush at my school could actually bring against him was "He sounded like a moron." This is in reference to his classic Bushisms of mixed and mispronounced words. He also reiterated that if he knew then what he knows now, he would have still gone to war with Iraq. Sticking to your decisions is one thing, stupidity is another. Still, this is the moot point.
Aside from cutting back on support for police and firemen, which I'm pretty sure the federal government doens't have any control of anyway, this is basicly all the candidates talked about, repeating the same arguement over and over again. What voters must ask themselves is this: What sort of leader do want in the war now, not who do we want to not have started the war in the first place. Do we want Bush, the guy who will make mistakes but stick to his decisions, or Kerry, the politician and diplomat who will probably consistantly change his plan, make less mistakes but get less done. Mind you, this opinion is based entirely on impressions made on me by the debate. Both candidates circumvented the questions pertaining to exactly what they planned to do, and we're probably screwed either way.
"You know what Bush, your MOM'S inconsistant."

The New Constitution
We had our constitutional convention in disc on Monday and Tuesday. Mad props to Marten's dad for the outfit, it was very well recieved. The document we came out with barely resembled our existing constituion. Among the notable differences: the executive branch consists of three presidents - the president of the Economy, the president of War, and the president of Domestic Affairs. We also have no standing Federal army, and everyone except slaves can vote. It's still not as good as the first period interdiscers, who apparently ended up with a "secretary of keepin' it real".
Very little non-disc-related is happening with me, and I'm afraid this will be the norm for the rest of the year. It's hard to understand if you're not in it. It really is like a cult. ANd so is choir. And let me tell you, being in two different cults is hard work.

Dreaming of Sanity
Okay, fine, maybe not. I haven't been posting because I said I wasn't going to anymore. But right now I'm needing to do something social, so here I am. I've spent most of my night playing The Sims 2. My girl is pregnant. I hope she doesn't have twins again...They ended up getting taken away by a social person. It's actually quite a long story involving an adopted girl named LaShonda. Yeah. So I tried to kill her but just got my kids taken away instead. DAMN IT!
Okay. So, I still don't feel better, but I'll find something else with which to waste my time. Goodnight.

Oh never mind
Anyway, onto other things. I think we need a new policy on blitzblogs: we should take the highlights. We should go through and just take the parts that other people actually care to read and isolate them. Because otherwise you're posting like 10 pages of text, much of it boring or difficult to follow. What does eveyone else think?
So, that's blogbusiness. As far as my life goes, things are going well, marching band takes up too much time, but it's fun now so that's ok. We may be sending some kids to LC for the magazine. Also, I recently saw my double from the future.
At Louisville, when we were pulling into the parking lot we saw a band dressed in uniforms almost identical to ours. So everyone was asking, "What band is that?" Well, nobody knew, so I said that it was us from the future and that obviously we were going to score badly at prelims and not make finals, then go back in time to correct it. But we obviously didn't count on encountering our doubles. Well, everyone just kinda looked at me weird and life went on.
But later, when we were marching onto the field, the band dressed like us was marching off. And as we went by one of them warned Josh and I not to slip on the turf. So, my conclusion is that that was us from the future, and in their timeline I had slipped on the turf and caused us to not make finals, but because of the warning from the future I avoided it. So that's pretty cool.
Anyway, that's the end of this post so y'all have a nice day.

I'm having my baby on the floor of a WAL-MART STORE!
And, now-- a snippet of college life:
There was a poster sale at Hanover today, and I got many posters. They rock! My walls are all pretty now. My mother must never find out how much money I spent on posters. It would make her heart cry. I spent more money on posters than I spent on food and stuff at Wal-Mart.
I am now going to relate to you the fateful and magical tale of the Wal-Mart Trip of Doom. This took place the first week of school, before classes had actually started. At 11:30 at night, a bunch of girls in my hall (Amanda, Erin, Jennifer, Jenny, Kelly, Kelly, and Allison) decided to go to Wal-Mart, and they invited me along. Now, I really had nothing to buy at Wal-Mart, but I agreed to go in order to be social. Little did I know at that point that we were going to try to cram eight people into a two-door car which should seat four. Somebody was in the trunk. Three people were in front. Four people were in the back. So I ended up riding along winding roads with no seatbelt and my head two inches away from a glass window, convinced that any moment Amanda was going to hit something and my head was going to go straight through said window and I was going to die. And Amanda got lost about twice, so it took forever to get to our discount-pricing destination. About halfway into the journey I started praying the rosary in my head. (Well, not actually the rosary, because I don't know exactly how that goes. But I did the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be over and over again).
Finally we arrived at Wal-Mart, where I industriously purchased nothing. I swore up and down that, no matter what, I was not getting back into that death trap. Fortunately, everybody else bought so much that it would be impossible to fit all those bags and people back into the car. Amanda took two trips, God bless her. Jennifer, one of the Kellys, the other Erin, and I sat outside Wal-Mart and talked about nothing for a half hour or so. That actually was fun. Then Amanda came back, and we enjoyed a nice, safe trip back to Hanover College, where we arrived at around 1:30 in the morning. It was a bonding activity. It will never happen again. Don't tell my mom. Please?
Oh my god! My ox is broken!

Anything you learn outside this classroom is a Lie!
Weirdest DPoD ever.
Other than an awesome game of Warhammer and Dragon Strike, the last few days have been generally blarg. I keep not doing my english homework, my car keeps dying, this post has been erased once already, and I feel generally cranky. Why am I typing right now? I need to do my english homework! Must Escape! I deleted the Recycling Bin today because it was silly. Online journals are pointless if you don't want comments. If we don't put those back on paper where they belong, handwriting will slowly get worse and, within a few generations, we'll forget how to hold a pencil! Free society as we know it will be lost, and we will be bumbling ignorami, easily conquered by an evil regime. So, for the safety of society, I suggest that everyone with online journals that they don't want others to see just put them down on paper and save the future of humanity.
I despise APLAC. I need to stop procrastinating. I miss Erin.
I've spent the day not working on english. So far, I've been doing drama stuff, building aminiature flail with a pencil, sticky tack, and a key chain thing, and this. None of that is english, which I should be doing. Why am I still typing? I should work on my english project. All I've done is read it. Now I need 3 synopses, an intro, some theme stuff, a socratic question and a 200 word answer to it. Oh, and I deleted the recycling bin because it was pointless. I'd delete Taj Ma Lobby, but I can't. I've decided it's silly to write something in a public domain on which you want nothing commented. That's what personal diaries and journals are for. EVE! FINISH THAT POST AND POST IT! THE STORY MUST GO ON!

Too Much Time on my Hands
It wasn't actually all that weird in the "zany" sense of the word, so much as in the way things kept just spontaneously happening. I ended up spending my nights: Playing cards with Grandma (fairly normal), Going to a concert at the house (normal, but not for me), playing Dungeons and Dragons all night (really nerdy following the rock concert), seeing Garden State (Weirdest. Movie. Ever.) and bowling with people I haven't seen in years. I also went to a horribly planned meeting of the LN democratic campaign. We had watermelon.
In other news, I'm thinking about starting a band. I really need a guitar player, though. If any of you know anyone who might be interested, let me know.

Pure Awesome
Junior year is awesome! All my classes are fun except band, which is neutral. Study hall was also neutral, but now that I have it with Anna, a foriegn exchange student from the Republic of Moldova, I'm moving it into the fun column. Even Marching band has been enjoyable lately, as our section finally stops being all slackers all the time and has move into somewhat slackerish most of the time. Also, the rehearsals are pretty short. North Star without SRTs is trying, and I'm not sure how it's gonna work yet, but I think there will be a paper and a MEOW, so all is well. Chamber is difficult but enjoyable enough, and Interdisc is the 90-minute embodiment of awesome.
This morning Nathan and I came up with a great parody on Tower of Babble based on Mark Kurlansky's cod. A sample:
God endows us with rivers full of fish.
God endows us with cod fit for a dish.
But despite the abolition of the current inquisition of any overfishin' of codfish meat,
When it comes to God I find I can't believe that he designed the atlantic ocean with a fish,
We're not supposed to eat.
There's more of course, but since only Marten will really get it I'll just show it to him. I think I'm coming up with a new template line. This comes from a recent MEOW brainstorming session.
There are no bad ideas, except "Ugly people and their moms."

50 Ways to Leave Your Lover
I just broke up with Ashley.
I actually don't feel bad about it. A little relieved, to be honest. Relieved that we came out of it still friends, that neither of us 'dumped' the other one... it was a nice, amicable breakup. We have good communication skills. I just thought I should keep y'all informed.

We hate animals that are also people. We make an exception for animals that are also ninjas. Furthermore, we do not refer here to Wishbone,
Yay, Sophia's back! We missed you. In other news, I have considerably less hair than usual, and have recieved much congratulation on shaving quite a bit of my hair for a single scene. It doesn't look that bad, actually, and is pleasently soft and fuzzy, though a bit cold. Despite its advantages, it will be grown to its original length. I could get used to it being incredibly short, but two days before cutting it i had it in cornrows and it looked awesome! The day after that, only half was shaved. Nathan's idea, we had a few different explainations to toss out at anyone who asked, my favourite being that we were running late and could only shave half. We will have pictures, for anyone interested.
Explanation on the new template: Nathan and I had an arguement about one of the prostitute costumes. I said she looked like a ninja prostitute and he insisted she was a pirate. The arguement was long and rather pointless.

In other news, I'm alive! Kinda. I know I quit and then came back and didn't post and blah blah blah...sorry about all that. I've been working this summer! Actually WORKING! Did you think that was possible? And at school, no less. I've been working for the registrar and in the bookstore...fun stuff, eh? But I stopped doing that because I strained my back lifting books and stuff. Just think about that when you go to registration you LC folks...I hurt myself so that ya'll could get books. :D Just kidding. But it's gonna be funky this year...all the books are in the Studio Theater and you're going to get them at Registration. You LN people are lucky. But I got money for our stupidity, so it's all good. Anyway, I hope my posting isn't too weird for all of you...I'm just bored and don't really have much to do. Sorry. Bye!

(Repaet refrain)
So ends my tribute to Upton Sinclair's masterpiece. I seriously think it could work as a musical. The "weiner wort", of course, refers to what they put in the sausages. It's a great book, but it'll be weeks before I can eat another sausage.
In other news, guess what one of our numbers for the fall choir show is gonna be? Hint: It was the title of an episode of Sports Night.

At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi; at last we will have revenge
Guess what?
Comstocks, if you're being INSANELY spoiler-free, turn away.
The official title of Episode III is Revenge of the Sith. Just as anybody could have guessed in 1983. Except us, I guess, 'cause we weren't born. But although it's an obvious choice, it's obvious because it's good. Certainly better than a title like "Attack of the Clones." So the sequence of movies (in movietime chronology): The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi. Hee. Little things like this give me such pleasure.
Marten and I have communication difficulties in talking about the movies, because he insists on referring to realtime chronology, and I keep referring to movietime. So I'll say Luke looks like Anakin in that shot, and he says no, Anakin looks like Luke. It's frustrating. Almost like the werewolf thing.

Time-Study Man
It's 6:30 in the evening and dinner is on the table, but to me it feels like morning, because I just got up, having gone to bed 3 hours previously. I don't take naps; this is why. My sleep schedule is gonna be off for a week. Anyway, they want me down at the dinner table, but to me it's breakfast, and it's way to early for me to be able to handle it.
Ok, I've had a shower I'm a little better now. We just saw Seussical! and one of the characters was so Thomas it was funny. Thomas, you are now Horton the Elephant.
Then we played DnD until until the wee hours of the night. I was a drunken mad dwarf. It was fun.
Then I got carwashed. ANd cars got washed by me, and so did the dog only not really. Ok, more sleep now. Adios!

Sleep Something Something Watermelon
Did you hear the Canadian slipping in there? That's courtesy of my awesome cousins and aunt, who are here at my house for a while. We have been out doing things and stuff for a while now. We hit the Children's Museum (the DINOSAUR exhibit is very cool) RAWR!, the bowling alley (bowled a 77), the arcade for some DDR, and of course, K-mart. In case you haven't noticed, I'm ABUSING COLOUR!!!!! (note the U, very Canadian). The reason for this is that I am VERY TIRED!!!!! For instance, I can't tell my rights from writes. Or wrongs or lefts or something. Anyway, this knew (I mean new) template line is a great one from scarlet Letter.
So Evelyn (wings) is right next to me now, and she wants this to be known, despite the fact that that means all her potential internet stalkers will know EXACTLY WHERE SHE IS. Anyway, I'm gonna let her type for a short spell.
I have no idea what to right, so I'll (oops, I'm doing it too. Too much cousin bonding time methinks) just tell you all to go read my blog which I'll be updating more frequently since my mom knows about it now and I won't have to hide from her when I post. I'm planning a "Surviving the Comstocks: Into the heart of Indianapolis's Insane community" for my upcoming blogs, so stay tuned.
Anyway, I don't have so much more to say right now, so I'm gonna rap up this entry. Darn, well to save face, I'll actually rap up this entry.

Yesterday I posted my Velma Kelly story-- Marten's read it but I don't think any of the rest of you have yet-- on fanfiction.net and it's been REVIEWED TWICE ALREADY! And the reviews are good! Really good! I'm so happy and excited about it! If any of you are interested, it's called "Closing Night" and it's a "Chicago" fic, which is under movies.
Also, I know the name of my roommate for next year. Her name is Katy Holmes. I haven't contacted her yet, because I'm not sure what to say. I need to think about it a bit. But it's weird, because for some reason I had this odd premonition that her name would be Katy. Spelled like that and everything. Hmm.

Well, I do have a few things. For instance, everyone should know about "Rock, Paper, Saddam" Also, I would encourage you to all go see Fahrenheit 911. It's a good movie.
I went to a party last night. The most interesting thing was probably the attempt to cut a watermelon with a bread knife. We ended up cutting a weird, jagged elipse around the melon, and then scooping out the insides with an ice-cream scoop and eating it with spoons.

Jonah caved! He's still in marching band! Now before you get all upset, you should know that I didn't cave until I'd gotten pretty much everything I wanted. I can miss half of each day of band camp, and all of the June rehearsals. Also, they really need me back. No they don't, I've heard you play.something. The cat was on the skateboard, but I was unable to launch it. FIN!

And so my Lord was gone. And no one has seen him since.
Here is a fanfic rec for you all-- The Not Quite Love Letters, a SW fic on fanfiction.net. It's about Han and Leia and their relationship after the Battle of Yavin revealed through a few angsty journal entries, but mostly through official Alliance communications and random things like that. In the first chapter Han invites Leia to polish his medal. In the second chapter, computer terminals get thrown onto people's heads. It's really funny.

It's Garage Sale Day! I've been looking for a TV, but everything is either too small, or doesn't have the right connection thingies for my ps2. And the cost of some, geez. Some people don't understand the purpose of a garage sale. The point is to get rid of stuff, not to make a whole lot of money. It's pocket change, most likely going to be spent on the equally cheap merchandise of others. Some people got the idea, though, like the person from whom I bought a sega genesis. one dollar. It was fate. There was the machine, and there was a dollar in my pocket. Now I just have to find some games, another controller, and the wires I need to plug it in.

Sophia, you've made me sad. Come on, my life is pretty boring too, I just talk about it anyway. I mean, let's look at this objectively: my last post was about Discworld books and my thyroid. Please.
Anyway, my dad says that if our DSL isn't up very soon we're getting cable internet, just to spite the dsl people. But that would be super inconvenient really, because in order to afford it we'd have to get rid of AOL, and I've already filled out all my college stuff with my AOL account, and we'd have to download AIM and everything. That's bad.

Except that I might not.
See, my reason for quitting was of course Jekyll and Hyde, but Mr. Noffke doesn't want me to take two consecutive weeks off (Triennium and Newspaper camp) and I can't quit those, since my parents have already put down about $300 for each. If I'm out of Jekyll and Hyde for that, I might as well do Marching Band.
EDIT: Noffke's gonna let me get do it, so I guess I am quitting. But if I miss one day, I'm out.
Also, Nathan and I started building a boat today. It also started flooding. Amazingly enough, these two things are not related.
Inspired by an episode of Biography on A&E last night, Nathan and I have officially made our college plans. We're going to NYU to study acting, just like the Olsen twins. In fact, they'll still be there, so we're planning to either marry them or collaborate on an award-winning sitcom, or both. With the acting genius of Nathan and I and the star power of MK & Ashley, we'll be rich. It's fool-proof. (My title is the prospective title of the show or an associated autobiography).
Also, that's the new "We should get married... to other people."
Now it's "We should get married... to the Olsen twins."
In conclusion, the boredom of the summer is almost certianly getting to us.

I have now listened to the Two Towers tapes, and if you want a few highlights, check out my journal. If you don't have its address, just let me know and I'll email it to you, since I don't think blogger will let me put the link up here.
Yesterday I went to the doctor to get vaccinated so that I can go to college. So I got a meningitis vaccine and a TB test. Yay. Then it turns out I have an enlarged thyroid gland, and I don't really know what that means, but they had to draw blood to test. I've never had that done before; it was kinda creepy. Then I have to go in again tomorrow so they can ultrasound my neck, I guess, and try to figure out why my thyroid is enlarged. I'm a little worried about it, I can tell you... Well, anyway. Just thought I'd put that out there so everybody can say, "Don't be worried, Erin, it's okay."
Later.

Imagine
Seriously is there some goverment rule that says BMV's have to be drab and dreary? Everyone hates going there so much and it's something that wouldn't be hard to do.
In case you haven't figured it out, I got my permit today. In fact that's all I did, since it took me, all in all, about six hours. Yeah.
After that we drove around the parking lot, where I concluded that driving is not nearly as easy as it looks.
And on the way home we listened to a tribute to Ray Charles, including his unique version of the song "Imagine":
"Imagine all the people (All the little people)
Living... Living there whole lives.. just for today..."
What a guy. Well that's all I have to say. Oh, also Micheal, could you link me to your West Wing script site cause I'm lazy? Thanks.

Cornfrohawks Forever: The Autobiography of Starfish Apple Comstock
Which brings me to other news: I am getting a haircut today. I am going to pay some person money to cut off my hair. Barbering is one of the few industries where we pay people to take things away. Also banking, but the difference is that there is an understanding that the bank will give you your money back someday, whereas the barbershop would never in a million years return your hair.
Another such business is daycare, but this is also temporary, and usually much shorter term than the bank. So, in conclusion - You pay daycare to take your kids for a day, The bank to take your money for some years, and the barbershop to take your hair FOREVER. Luckily hair grows back, and is an infinitely renewable resource, unless you are Homer Simpson or Captian Picard.
Has everybody heard of the Wikipedia? The ultimate experiment in anarchy - anyone can update a page with new info. You could. I could. Gary Coleman could. Gary Coleman is, by the way, in a new musical called Avenue Q which just won a lot of Tonys. It's about homosexuality and rascism and muppets, and Gary Coleman is played by a woman.
Anyway, if I ever had a topic to get off it I lost it a long time ago.

"Do you think I'm proud of this? I've got a brother who's a sheepdog!" "A *champion* sheepdog."
I saw "Troy" yesterday. It's an interesting movie. Brad Pitt was very pretty. Orlando Bloom was funny as Paris because he was such a big wimp. And he did a lot of Legolas bow-and-arrow stuff and a lot of Will Turner sword stuff. I loved Hector and I was sad when he died. We cheered three times. The first was for the King Arthur trailer, which was awesome. The second time was when Rose Byrne (Dormé from AOTC), who played Briseis, stabbed Agamemnon in the neck. It must have been the handmaiden training. The third was when Aeneas got a little cameo. But they did so many things wrong in that movie. For example, the Trojan War was supposed to be nine years long, and in the movie it was about 16 days. And that's counting the twelve-day timeout for Hector's funeral. There's lots more, but my friend Alicia is writing a review of it,a and I get to comment upon it, so I will probably be more coherent after that.
I now own three more Discworld books! I have Small Gods, Hogfather, and The Fifth Elephant. The only books in the main series that I don't have now are Reaper Man and Thief of Time. I'm most excited about having Fifth Elephant because that was the second DW book I read and I can't remember what happens. I looked through all the Carrot and Angua parts last night, and they are really so touching when you know Carrot and Angua. He goes after her. He almost says he loves her. He holds her hand. He promises to kill her if he ever needs to. She cries. She gets called a dog. She fights her family. She says, "Carrot's mine." I love that couple. They're so screwed up.
