You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Duuude! I just ordered (with the help of my mom) my pass to Celebration III! I'm going on Saturday, a day on which One-Man Star Wars, Star Wars the Musical, AND Star Wars in 30 Minutes will all be performed. Whoo! I'm SOOO psyched! I'm still having difficulties obtaining what costume materials I need. I'll now have to rely on Wal-Mart to save me, since I have no time this weekend to go to Goodwill. You can't ever ever tell my familiy I'm dressing up, ever. I hope my aunt doesn't read this. Aunt Barbara, if you're reading this: I'm totally not dressing up. Just kidding. Ha ha.
I've got a synopsis/fangirl rave on my lj about the most recent trailer. I've got pretty new icons! Lots! I went icon crazy and saved about 200 icons on my computer last week. Not all Star Wars, but a fair few were. I also just watched the last installment of the Clone Wars cartoon at http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/promos/200503_starwars/index.html
To summarize the series: Anakin has issues, Palpatine is an asshole, the Jedi are awesome, lots of battling, Obi-Wan uses dry wit, and Anakin and Padme get it on. The vocal talent leaves somewhat to be desired. The dialogue is alternately funny (like, because it's supposed to be) and cheesy. I loved it.
I've renounced spoilers for the last two months of this waiting game. This is a BIG DEAL for me. But I'm at the point where, if I learn any more, it will be too much.
I had a Star Wars presentation in Great Works (Obi-Wan as Luke's Jungian Self) that I got an A on. My other group members were dumb; one in particular was so dumb it made me want to cry. I don't know what they got. As far as I'm concerned, at least the latter one fails. At life. Last week we had three days of discussing Star Wars in class-- for two of those days in two classes. It was greatness. I totally dorked out, though. It was just about the OT, so when Dr. Battles didn't know a prequel fact, he'd ask me. Like, "That planet... God, what's it called... with the clones?" "Kamino." "Yes!" Right now I should be writing a paper I have for Great Works which is, surprise!, about Star Wars. More specifically, about Shmi, Padme and Leia as anima figures. Here's an excerpt of what I have so far:

Anakin’s romantic anima is Padmé Naberrie Amidala. Her name is the Sanskrit word for “lotus, the symbol of divine energy and divine grace” (Myth 63). This is certainly how nine-year-old Anakin sees her; the first time they meet he “felt himself melting in confusion and wonder” at “a face so beautiful that he had nothing to which he could compare it” (Brooks 112). Jung states that “it is the presence of the anima that causes a man to fall suddenly in love when he sees a woman for the first time and knows at once that it is ‘she’” (Symbols 191), a phenomenon also recounted by Joseph Campbell when he says “it’s almost as though the future life that you’re going to have with that person has already told you, This is the one whom you will have that life with. … It’s almost as though you were reacting to the future” (Myth 202).

Yes, I'm getting graded for doing this. Unfortunately, I have a very limited timeframe in which I may do it, so I have to get back to it now.
I hope you all have great Easter holidays and spring breaks and whatnot. I'm sorry about the delay in posting on Pants, but you see, last week I had two presentations and a paper. Next week I have a paper due Monday, a paper due Tuesday, and a paper due Wednesday. I'll try to get to it at the end of next week. I know what I want to happen and everything, I just have no time whatsoever in which to write it.
Enough procrastinating now.

You said that milk tastes better when you drink it out of a Star Wars Cup

...Well, I'm no scientist. It could also have been the wookie straw ~Penny Arcade

I watched the trailer. Then I watched it again. I'll probably watch it a couple more times this afternoon. On to more disturbing news. I recieved an anonymous postcard today. No name, no return address. It was addressed to "MR. MARTEN DOLLINGER" in very bad handwriting. The only other handwritten thing on it was "VIVIAN, Get me some PLUM SAUCe," in equally bad handwriting. If anyone can explain to me the significance of this messege, please help me out. Printed on it was "I'm on my way. Just to say "How are you?" Just to wish you well; On our day of meeting; There'll be some more to tell." I think I may have a stalker.

The Storm Troopers are trying to fight off the robot, but they keep missing ~goats

Hah! I don't have to change my scheme, there are enough SW references in the webcomics I read. But anyway, I'm here to complain about a couple things, in order of what happened most recently. First, what was up with comedy sportz tonight? The other team just wasn't funny. We had a couple great things to make up for it, but our team wasn't at its best, either. I think the first couple games just threw everyone off. Paper bag and groaner fouls everywhere. Next, whats up with the army recruiting at my school? I mean, it wouldn't be so bad if it were just the usual booth in the commons, but they were giving out free pizza for a signature to talk to a recruiter! There was a veritable riot out in the commons for this ill-gotten free food. It's one thing that it's nearly impossible for the average middle class person to get into college without army handouts, but bribing us with food? What's worse, it was crappy pizza! It tasted like cardboard! You'd think with all the money we put into the military that they could afford some decent bribery pizza. The whole thing just makes me sick. What does not make me sick, however, is Kaylee. We went swing dancing last night, partially because it was free. We couldn't remember how, but it didn't matter, it was fun anyway. Afterward, we went to Starbucks and were silly. Then, I went home and I ATE ICECREAM! <----look! only one paragraph!

Improvement of the TItle Scheme

In celebration of Revenge of the Sith, I'm changing my title scheme to Verb of the Noun. I suggest everyone choose Star Wars inspired title schemes at any rate.
Also, my latest post on Crazy Stalker Guy contains much Psuedo-science, and I'd like feedback on it's believability. It's been a long time coming, but I finally have a big enough chunk of part 1 figured out to start writing again.
Finally, I need all of you're help. I'm trying to start a massive letter writing campaign to get Arby's to bring back the Roast Chicken Club, the best sandwich of all time, which they have recently discontinued. If the letter writing campaign fails, I may be forced to resort to terrorism.

Disgruntled Mushroom VM

Is VM even a proper roman numeral?
I'm out of the loop, and I apologize. I have had a rough couple of weeks what with choir and the magazine, which go to press Monday and New York next Monday respectively (The magazine goes to press and the choir to New York; It would be quite silly the other way around)
Anyways, I'm 17 now. DO you think it's morbid to celebrate birthdays? I mean, we celebrate them regardless of how successful the completed year of out lives is. THe message we send is, it's worth throwing a party just because we made it this far. And if that's the case, it seems to also say, we could just have easily have died this year.
I don't think it's a morbid celebration. More likely we just like to throw parties for ourselves and like to have a reliable excuse to do it at least anually. Annualy. Annually? How the heck do you spell that word anyway? Ah well. I'm supposed to be cleaning my room right now. Oh well. I'm going to take my driving test come spring break! Isn't that exciting? More so for me then for you I suppose. Especially since I can't drive any of you anywhere for three months.
What ever happened to Rachel? She's a member, but I doubt she even remembers this. I doubt she would notice if we kicked her off, really. It's a shame - I like Rachel. I used to be in love with Rachel. Man, that was a long time ago. Must have been like seventh grade. What made me think of it was I saw her on stage with her show choir a few weeks ago, and I just randomly remembered how I had a crush on her in seventh or eighth grade. You know, Eighth is an awkward word to spell too. SO is awkward, but that's appropriate I supposed. I mean, words should be what they are. Take Palindrome for example. If I were in charge, it would be spelled Palindromemordnilap or else just Palinilap, I'm not picky. And there would be a dozen different words for synonym too. Did I even spell that right? What is with my spelling tonight? For that matter, what is with my writing tonight? I'm so random, I mean it's been like three topics since my last paragraph break, and I don't seem to finiush thoughts so much as jump to new ones. I could go on like this for a long time, but I think it's time to stop.

Mrs. Brisby is a Jedi!

Either you adapt or you die. The Queen understands this.

Dude! I'm on the Padawan's Guide! This is a Star Wars costuming website that I go to mainly because it has the best spoiler pictures and links thereto. (I have 268 spoiler pictures now, by the way. It's a bit insane.) Anyway, there was some discussion going on on the site about Amidala's royal symbol, and how it looks sort of like a fleur di lis, which I had noticed before, so once that came up, I posted what I found out when I looked into it. And now it's posted-- archived even-- on the site, in "The Naboo Symbol" under Special Features. I feel special.

Also, new ROTS trailer! Awesomeness! I'll probably squee about it on my lj sometime fairly soon.

I'm totally going to lord it over you forever. ~goats

I won in diplomacy! Well, technically, Amathan and I won diplomacy, but they quit near the end and I controlled both halves of the alliance. I think we only won because Pa Comstock got bored and quit cuz we took so long with the turns. really weird, because there were only about 14 turns in the whole game. I don't remember exactly, but it went pretty quickly. So, I won. yay. gloating feeling gone.

So Sophia and I are not going to work out the way I hoped. She can't be anything more than a friend to me, but I think that's enough. I know this, but it doesn't make me feel too much better. I'm not going to say much more about that because it makes me sad. What makes me happy is the realization that I have awesome friends. I was feeling incredibly low about this yesterday and this morning, but I had so many people to keep me from feeling too bad. A list of these people includes but is not limited to: Nathan, Erin, Kaylee, and Mrs. Guthrie. Thanks also to Jonah and Thomas for keeping me busy with editting, work which I strangely enjoy. I appreciate everyone's assistance in holding on to my sanity. Another thing which raised my spirits considerably is the successful shifting of my car's transmission, which I finally un-jammed. I was quite elated by this as I drove home from my dad's shop. It's once again for sale to anyone with an exta $500.

"%*"

Inspired by Marten, I shall post one of my more amusing conversations of the week, which happened this morning with the Hingatrian exchange student, Balasch. At least I found it amusing.
Balasch: Hey, Nasan
Me: Nathan
Balasch: Nasan
Me: Tongue just barely between your teeth, like this "th"
Balasch: "s"
Me: "th"
(After some time)
Balasch: sth
Me: closer
Alex: What's going on?
Me: Did you know the "Th" sound doesn't exist in Hungarian?
Alex: Awesome

Also, here are the lyrics to a song written today by me, Jonah, Jon Vogt, and a random guy from Pike whose name I never learned.

The Duel has Begun
For you it won't be fun
You'll soon be a goner
When I slay you
With my Blade of Honor

(Chorus)
I shall slay you with my Blade of Honor
You will scream, when you're impaled upon her
The blood will run red and you're gonna be dead when I slay you
With my blade of honor

The wrongs you have done me
they just aren't funny
I am a Samurai
I'm Japanese, not Thai

(Chorus)

The wrongs you have done me
have brought me to this,
I'll Certainly slay you
unless I accidently miss
But that will not happen
I promise you that
I swear by the horns on
My Samurai Hat

(Chorus)
(Improvise)

In conclusion, mad props to Sophia for "Three Angels" and also to the guy who played Alfred, who reminded me of Marten (which is funny cause he was in love with Sophia).

Facial hair isn't supposed to bleed! ~goats

This weeks most amusing conversations:

Me: What are they saying? Drop it what?
Kiel: Drop it like it's Hot
Me: Drop it like it's hot?
Kiel: Drop it like its Hot.
Me: What, like a potato?
Kiel: Yes, Marten, yes, like a potato.

MysteriousBob87: its not fair
MysteriousBob87: girls don't have nose hair
LuckEdc: what's not fair?
LuckEdc: um... yeah, i guess that's not fair.
MysteriousBob87: its so itchy and annoying
LuckEdc: well, girls have to put up with plenty of annoying things that boys dont
MysteriousBob87: I don't care, nose hair trumps all
LuckEdc: um... no, i think bleeding out your vagina once a month trumps that.
LuckEdc: ah, and i have stunned him into silence with my crudeness.
MysteriousBob87: bah
MysteriousBob87: have not, you gave me one second to respond
MysteriousBob87: nose hair is a constant annoyance, where as menstruation is once a month
MysteriousBob87: and it goes away when you get old
MysteriousBob87: nose hair stays forever
LuckEdc: you can trim nosehair.
MysteriousBob87: it doesn't make it less annoying
MysteriousBob87: it grows back fast
LuckEdc: months go by quickly
LuckEdc: and i think an irritating itching is not quite so annoying as actual pain
MysteriousBob87: well, since I have never experienced this, I shall use my gender-inherited ignorance to continue to disagree with you
LuckEdc: i shall take the position of women everywhere and sigh and roll my eyes and shake my head at you
MysteriousBob87: and thus the battle of the sexes is perpetuated

There were probably other funny ones with Guthrie, but the silliness did not stick in my mind. So the not-school parts of this week have been fun. Spent my half-day with Soph watching a funny movie, it was great. Wednesday night, we went to see comedy sportz, which was hilarious. I held the Fly Swatters of Judgement, and voted once for the opposing team, partly to keep it interesting, partly because Marcus was there. I can't remember his last name, it was the guy from Jekyl and Hyde. He was awesome.

Play it again, Sham.

Well, I did it. About two years ago I made the decision to read every single Discworld book and story, and now I've done it. In fact, I had it done mid-last week, when I finished the only Discworld short story I hadn't read before, "Troll Bridge." But today I finished Once More With Footnotes, the collection of short stories and essays. They were good. I may have quotes on my LJ later. But I am now officially Caught Up. The Collection is really, really Complete. It's a good thing Wintersmith comes out in May, otherwise I don't know what I'd do. Well, yes I do. It's the same thing I'm planning on doing anyway. Starting over. Reading them all again. Terry Pratchett is my favorite author. That doesn't mean that he's the best author in the world, or that his books are classics. He's just my personal favorite. I like what he says and I like the way he says it. I like his world and I like his characters. A recurring theme in his essays on fantasy (there are several essays on fantasy; he keeps having to respond to the claim that "fantasy is stupid") is the idea that fantasy is escapist, but what makes good fantasy is that you're escaping to somewhere worthwhile. The Discworld, in my opinion, is an extremely worthwhile place to visit.
Erin's Discworld Library, too, is now back up and running at its new Hanover location. Right now my friend Erin is borrowing Mort, my roommate Kelly is borrowing Guards! Guards!, and Dr. Battles is borrowing The Last Hero. Because it's about some of the things we're doing in Great Works and Sci Fi. I had to include a little guide to characters so he wouldn't be confused. I lied and told him that I copied and pasted it from the internet so he wouldn't think I was sad. I am now hoping that nothing in it gives me away-- nothing should, it was written in a fairly Pratchettian style. And the typos corrected with pen because I didn't want to waste more of my roommate's ink might throw him off the trail. I am so pathetic. Sigh. I just don't want my proffessor to know it.
I just made a horrible angsty post on my LJ. I feel that you should be warned before attempting to read it.
I'm thinking of doing a story blog. I'd put Erin's Notebook type things on it. Some one-shots, some chapter stories, some original work, some fanfiction. I think I'd like to put my Giry story on it, just to get a reaction post by post. I've also been thrown some pretty interesting plot bunnies relating to the thing I started for NaNoWriMo (which just goes to show what happens when you let the things breed), but I don't know how soon I'll tackle that. Let me know what you think of this.
